YouTube, the social media network that has a major influence in the life of most teenagers in the world, is a unique place to launch any career that you wish for, including the art of designing. Design includes a very wide variety of options and paths for people to take. The most famous teenage YouTubers, that are well known and admired worldwide, experience the art of designing and launch possible careers through their channels.
The first example of a YouTuber who launched her career in design through her channel is Bethany Mota. While she is only 20 years old, Bethany’s channel has over 9 million subscribers. The channel, in which she shared about her life, passion and tips, is a portal through which she communicates with all her fans and influence the new generation to become all they wish for. Due to the popularity of her account, Bethany received invitations from various stores to design a clothing line for them. Currently, she works for the outstanding Aeropostale store, creating T-Shirt patterns and icons. Her winter collection in 2015 included shirts, skirts, shorts and accessories and was praised worldwide for its originality and its beauty. Bethany managed to earn a quite large amount of money with the outstanding sales of her designs.
Brooklyn and Bailey, 15-year-old twins, are also YouTubers and initiated a design career. They channel is about their family and daily life being twins and having many siblings. With the growing viewers of their channel, they were invited to launch a bedding line, together with the bedding company called Beddy`s–"YouTube was the right place to spread the news of you line because all our followers helped generate the success that our line had". Brooklyn, in her video, she mentioned that people in YouTube become designers because their followers want to be like them and buy their products because of that.
Finally, Meg Deangelis is the last example of young YouTuber designers that successfully launched a line based on their likes and passions. In 2014, Meg announced the creation of her room decor line together with Pottery Barn Teen. So that her line would get more views, Pottery Barn Teen offered, through Meg’s channel, bonus prices for people who were subscribed. Therefore, it is clear that YouTube has its influence in the customers of these products.
