YouTube as a Learning Tool

It may seem, according to the previous posts of this blog, that YouTube is a tool that is used only for social purposes, however, there is also a strong connection between this social media and schools worldwide. Considering that many schools are becoming more and more dependent on internet and devices, there is a necessity of a tool that can simultaneously, care for the safety and learning of the students.

Utilising YouTube students, with a google account, are able to create their own channels and share videos as their projects for lessons in school. The tool that disponibility the "unlisted" setting is a manner in which students can protect their accounts so that only the people that have a link are able to view and comment on their contents. In this way, teachers will see the videos, as well as peers.

YouTube is not only a posting source but also a viewing tool. Students having trouble in a certain area of focus might make use of this media to search for comprehension and enrichment in topics of interest. These videos might explain something they don't understand or care and want to expand on.

One channel example of a channel that exposes academic content for students worldwide is Khan Academy. This famous account covers basically all school subjects. Over 2 million subscribers view these contents.

Therefore, YouTube is a great tool to enrich the social environment, but also, the academic content for many kids.
